One of our most common questions:

What kind of jewelry do you use for initial piercings?

Why the jewelry for your initial piercing MATTERS!

Choosing jewelry when you come into Addictions Inc. is certainly not the same as selecting jewelry from other stores. Only certain metals are acceptable for initial piercings since it is worn within and is in contact with a wound. Sometimes, the jewelry you want for your new piercing is not ideal for your new piercing, but you can always switch or replace the jewelry once the piercing is healed.

What is implant-grade titanium? Why is this important?

Titanium is a lightweight metal that is nickel free. Titanium can be anodized in a variety of colors without compromising its safety. FYI - By IMPLANT-GRADE, we’re talking about titanium that has been certified for medical use and meets the standards for quality and safety set out by the American Society for Testing and Materials Standard (ASTM) or the International Standards Organization (ISO).

All of the jewelry we use at Addictions Inc. for new piercings complies with:

  • ASTM F-136 compliant

  • ISO 5832-3 compliant

  • ASTM F-67 compliant

Mill test certificates are documents that we receive from manufacturers to verify that testing was conducted to test the grade of metals used. All of our implant-grade titanium jewelry we use is verified implant certified titanium that is ASTM F-136 compliant, ISO 5832-3 compliant, or commercially pure titanium that is ASTM F-67 compliant.

Can I bring my own jewelry to be pierced with?

Short answer; no.

Any professional piercer will refuse to pierce you if you bring your own jewelry. Addictions Inc. will ONLY use certified implant-grade titanium for your new piercing with a verified mill certificate.
